In today’s world, we have access to so much information and so many amazing mentors and coaches on social media, podcasts and blogs to listen too. These amazing leaders are showing us how to do it all, and we want to do it too!
However, as we take on more and more in the early days of our business, we can quickly realize that doing more doesn’t directly translate into making more money. This type of strategy of doing it all can leave us frustrated and burn out. So, let’s take a look at some simple steps for launching your business online, when you’re a new coach.
In order for us to start making money, we have to start at the first step. The first step is to figure out WHAT you are selling in the first place.
What is your offer? What are your services? What do you provide for someone? How do you solve a problem for people?
It can be helpful to think about what is the easiest way you can get started with helping people. For example: an online course may take you months to put together, but could you open up some spots to coach people 1:1 over Zoom and get started this week? Probably!
Narrow down your offer and get clear on what problem you solve for your audience.
Step two is all about how someone can pay you to help them. It can be really simple, like a Paypal link or a button on a website or even just an e-transfer through your online bank account.
You need to set up some way for new clients to buy from you, and for you to receive that money and energy exchange. Maybe in the future this can be a completely automated process with an online tool, but in the beginning keeping it simple and low cost is a great way to get started making money in your business!
When I first started personal training, I did all my invoicing each month through Paypal. It took me an hour or so to manually create all the invoices and send them out, follow up with clients the next week if they hadn’t paid, and make the invoices were marked paid and saved in my records. But it worked!
This is just one example of how you can make it super simple to start getting paid today.
Now that you’re getting a few clients in the door, it’s time to decide who you really want to work with.
Are there clients you dread working with? Others that you are really excited to hop on a call with?
What part of their problem do you love to solve? How do you love to solve it?
What specific things do you love to talk about with your clients?
All of these questions will help you to start narrowing down your niche.
Niching down will allow you to start speaking directly to the type of clients you want to work with. It will help you set up a clear marketing strategy, sales strategy and redesign your offer to be irresistible to your ideal client.
